Clay Puppets

Bring your imagination to life in clay! This 5-week handbuilding workshop invites students to design and create expressive ceramic puppets, blending sculpture, storytelling, and craftsmanship.

Participants will learn to construct movable or articulated puppet forms using accessible handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab building, and joining. Once the forms are complete, the class will explore surface design and color, including underglaze painting, texture carving, and glazing — bringing each puppet’s unique personality to life.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced ceramic artist seeking a new creative challenge, this workshop offers an engaging opportunity to experiment, play, and tell stories through clay.

Skill Level: No experience needed! This workshop is suitable for beginner to intermediate level ceramic artists.
