Who We Are
Our studio is more than just a space to create; it’s a vibrant hub of collaboration where ideas are exchanged, techniques are developed, and friendships are molded.
The Clay Co-op is a working pottery studio, a clay supplier, and a creative space built for connection. We're a community of makers—from first-timers to full-time artists—who share tools, knowledge, and a deep love for clay. Whether you're here to take your first class, fire a new body of work, or just get your hands dirty after a long week, we’ve got a spot for you.
At The Clay Co-op, we keep things hands-on, low-pressure, and genuinely fun. We're here to make space for creativity, experimentation, and the kind of community that feels like home.
Our Story
Gigi and Bo’s story is an exploration through different mediums; what started in the heat of a glass studio, and was sealed in a printmaking shop, has evolved into its current form with their collaboration of the Clay Co-Op.
Gabriella and Bo met in 2016 working at Sigma Glass in St. Petersburg. Their shared love for creativity led them through a journey merged in art, culture, travel, and dedication to achieving their goals. After collaborating on glass and printmaking projects at TD Glass, they decided to explore new mediums to express their creativity. In 2019 Gabriella established Studio Gelato, merging ceramics and culinary delights, while Bo pursued his professional credentials as a Realtor and General Contractor. Until, 2022, when they had the opportunity to carry on Charlie Parker Pottery. The evolution of the studio into The Clay Co-op is their brainchild and testament to their mission to support the clay community that has continued to support them.
How It All Began
Gigi and Charlie quickly became friends in 2012 during her apprenticeship with him in St. Pete while studying ceramics at The University of Florida.
Charlie Parker's renowned career in ceramics began over five decades ago, back in 1967, as a clay mixer at the Minnesota Clay Company. Over the years, his contributions to the craft led to the establishment of significant pottery institutions, including the St. Petersburg Clay Company in partnership with Russ Gustafson-Hilton and Stan Cowen in 1996. In 2010, driven by a lifelong dream, Charlie ventured to create his own space, culminating in the birth of Charlie Parker Pottery.
Starting as an intern under Charlie's guidance, Gigi transitioned from a learner to a mentor, eventually returning to take the reins as the studio's owner. When Charlie offered Gigi the opportunity to continue growing the studio after his retirement, she relied on their shared vision of fostering artistic growth to evolve the studio for the next generation of potters. The once-familiar walls of Charlie Parker Pottery underwent a transformation, emerging as The Clay Co-op—a vibrant collective that celebrates pottery.
