Altered Forms : Shape Shifting

Tuesdays 6pm-830pm

3 Weeks

January 14th - January 28th

This class will be an exploration of altered forms combining wheel thrown and hand building techniques to create functional and unique works of art. Instructions will be provided on hand building, using a slab roller, and other hand building altered techniques such as faceting and darting. We’ll explore altering forms and slabs, bottomless cylinders, pinch pots, and other coil techniques to create sculptural and functional forms. Participants will be guided each week to create specific projects such a basket, a lamp, and a tulip tree while learning new techniques. By focusing on altered forms, participants will enhance their technical skills while creating beautiful, functional works of art. It’s the perfect way to explore the endless possibilities of clay in a supportive and inspiring environment.

Skill Level: This workshop is designed for intermediate students who can throw and center on the wheel.
