Fire It Up : Raku
Every Second Saturday
5:30pm-9:30pm
Join us for a fiery, fast-paced evening of Raku Firing—an unforgettable ceramic experience where flames, smoke, and spontaneous results rule the night!
What You’ll Do:
Bring 4–5 medium pieces (like mugs or cups) or 1–2 larger works to fire. You'll get access to our raku glazes, all materials, and expert guidance as we stoke the flames and pull red-hot pots from the kiln into reduction chambers for that smoky, unpredictable finish. Want to try horse hair raku? Bring some with you!
Skill Level: This workshop is ideal for folks with zero experience to those who've had a few lessons but need a refresher to improve their technique.

Expert Guidance on Raku Firing
What to Bring:
Cool but non-flowy clothing—natural fibers only! (Synthetic materials can melt near the heat.)
Long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toed shoes are a must.
A bagged dinner or snack—you’ll be working through dinner time.
Hat, bandana, sunscreen—it gets toasty next to the kiln!
Extra water bottle—you’ll be thirsty!
Horse hair if you're feeling fancy.
Safety First:
Wear protective, natural-fiber clothing.
No alcohol before or during—fire and inebriation don’t mix.
Respect the heat and stay alert. We’ll walk you through the safety steps, but your attention matters.
Your pieces must be picked up within 30 days or they will become The Clay Co-op property.
