WENDY FINKLEA : CREATIVE MUSINGS: OUR TIME IN SPACE
MAY 10 - AUGUST 1, 2025
My journey and relationship with clay began long before I knew I would be a potter, admiring and collecting pieces made by others from around the world. Every culture, country, territory and even region has an identifiable characteristic that is usually centered around food and the traditions of serving others with beautiful handmade tableware. Sufficiently inspired to last a lifetime, I’ve taken a 20-year deep dive into creating unique, contemporary and functional pieces that have been conceptualized through curious experimentation, employing various techniques that have been studied historically and developed by those potters before me. My direction continues to be inspired by design, function, glazes and firing schedules from ancient Asian antiquities dating back thousands of years.
Throughout the creative process, my goal is to develop pieces for everyday use, to touch, hold and ponder, adorning your home and/or sharing food with those you love. As a low production studio potter, each piece I craft brings me deep satisfaction when I feel it will bring beauty, function and grace to your life.
